BTW you only have to go over a DOT scale if your a comercial rig... And that is if your GVWR is 16k or more.. I however agree its a bad idea to go over them.. They are the governers ATM.  :bash:

put your camper on your truck, fill all tanks (truck fuel, camper H2o, propane, etc.), put everything you would take camping into the camper then go to the scales and get weighed. Then look at the door sticker on the drivers door and get the GVWR # and that will tell you how much over weight you are.

It's also good information to have so you know why your insurance company will deny you coverage if something bad happens.
Saves asking the question "why was I denied coverage?"

OK to start off if your from pasco you go out to the south bound state scale on 395 north of king city later in the afternoon most of the time it's not open and you used to be able to see the scale through the window, as for you weight you should be able to find the weight of you truck with out taking the camper off if anything call ford they will be able to give you a real close number. Now get yourself a pair of air bags for the rear that should take care of the slouching rear, if you really don't like it and you got it for a decent price clean it up and roll it and look for a shorter/lighter one there's lots out there. :twocents:

well.  the camper weighs 2700 lbs.  and the truck is a half ton truck,... so i'm guessing i'm way averweight.  lol..   so...  i'm gonna get a new truck   :)  a 3/4 ton,  but i'm not keeping the camper either,  gonna fix it up and sell it.  i got it for fffree so i got nothing to lose.

i wanna get a trailer anyways,  or an rv. :IBCOOL:

sounds waay to heavy... I have a 8 1/2 foot S&S camper on a 3/4 ton dodge with Airbags, and its a good size load.  go to the scales when they are CLOSED, the SP normally face the scale readout to the window to encourage motorists with boats and trailers to weight without issue.
