It is puzzling to me why T/C doesn't offer a 1:28 twist barrel for the NW Explorer, but I'm sure a saboted bullet can be found that would be accurate in that rifle.  Maybe eventually Green Mountain will offer a replacement barrel for that model like they do for the Hawken and Renegade rifles.......

Why buy a rifle that you have to re-barrel that don't make sense to me. I hate to hear you guy's having issues with the vortek that sucks.

You can still find NIB White's and yes their are parts out there, I just bought a new front site from White Rifles LLC, not Doc.

Just checked mine every screw on the gun was good and no problems found gun has been shot multiple times and cleaned lots with no issues shoots great I like the rifle

You wouldn't have to rebarrel it.  If a guy already had a T/C Northwest Edition with a 1:48 twist, I'm just saying that there may be hope that someday he could get a 1:28 twist barrel for it.  I'm going to get a new barrel for my 54 cal T/C Renegade so that I can shoot some of the newer bullets that are out nowadays that work well in 1:28 twist (Plus the selection of 50 cal bullets is better than the selection of 54 cal).

That said, there are some bullet/sabot combinations that will work well in 1:48 twist, so I wouldn't rule-out the TC Northwest Explorer as a rifle to get.........plus it should shoot conicals fairly well.  And at least T/C will stand behind their products and they should be in business for quite some time.

CVA Buckhorn is WA legal with the interchangeable breach plug which is sold separately for only $20.  The Buckhorn also prices at about $150, so its an inexpensive rifle, but it works.  Will take 150 grains of powder...however had had issues with 150 grains in the past to where CVA faced many lawsuits around the country.  But it is an option.

i just got a vortex and its great no problems.  150 grains powder 250 grain t/c  and flies straight.  only problem is its light and kicks like a mule but i love it.  no problems at all.  gonna slay a buck sat morning with it.  good luck guys

Just an update, I received my ML Vortek,but haven't had a chance to fire it yet. I did check out the gun barrell and noticed some residue inside. So I swabbed out the barrell multiple times and I keep coming up with a rusty brown color that has me concerned on wether the barrell some how got moister inside of it? Still researching it. Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks..

I hate how the quality of merchandise has significantly reduced in the last 10 years. Everything is disposable camera quality now, im a bowhunter and i've been shooting the same rig since '97(martin cougar) i think you would be hard pressed to find anything new that would last 13 years and still going strong.

When you say "screw's in the stock were small and loose, do you mean in the forend up front? Because that is exactly how the T/C Encore Pro Hunter is made and that gun is awesome. I called them today about the listing on their web page saying #11 cap's so I asked about musket's and they said no. Not recommended. So I asked what cap's they found were best during testing and they said use the CCI #11 in this gun. I will be getting one for sure.

I might have read your bracket sentence wrong. Are you saying the bracket is screwed on and then the forend is screwed onto that?

I was shooting my vortex's and had the whole barrel fall off right in my hand so i called traditions and had them send me the screws out to me and so that put me out for the early season  I think some one needs to get a email together and tell them how many people have had this same problem and tell them they need to fix this problem or they are going to lose a lot of service/costumers.  besides those 2 screws i have not had a problem and my neighbor has the same gun and has not had any problems with it but the gun does kick like a mule because of how light the gun is. I would recommend the gun just check the screws before you shoot it and maybe lock tight them.
