You can hunt with dogs, you can hunt at night, you can even hunt september, october, and november, you just can't hunt a unit that is open to centerfire rifle.   therefore, if your hunting with a .22 caliber...use a rimfire or a pellet gun.

That is the way I've always interpreted anyways, I use to have a coon dog.  We've ran bear, cougar and coon.

Awesome pictures.  I've wanted to get back into it really bad...need to find time.  You should get involved in the Washington State Coonhunters Association.

You might want to read the regs again.  I dont see where it make any exception for using rimfire rifle or any other weapon.  It simply says that night hunting and hunting with hounds is not legal during modern firearms.  Also pellet guns, sling shots, clubs, axes, knives, spears or any other implement of destruction are not legal to hunt game animals with.

But is a coon a game animal or a varmint?
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Sorry they are considered a game animal and a fur bearer.

You could hunt animals like opossums, skunks, and porcupines with a pellet rifle but you still cant hunt them at night, during modern firearms, since the law says "any wildlife"

Are you sure its open?  The regs say Sept, Oct and Nov in units that are open to center fire rifle deer and elk season.  It is still Nov.

We have plenty, but they need to be eliminated if treed, no treeing just for fun.

I hope your right but if that was all there was to it why would it even mention the months?  It could just say "closed during modern firearms season" but it doesnt.

Because it only pertains to modern firearm deer and elk hunting during those months.

Yes u are right i have to watch where special permit rifle in some gmus and not all of them. I look in book gmu 454 doesn't have any mod rifle permit or general season loom like closed last sunday so i supposed be legal to go out. I haven't start and i want be sure i am good to go.

True. I can go some only few gmus. For example i look up page 49 on special permit. Nooksack unit. Open rifle nov 25 thur nov 30 i can't hunt there. So most of gmus look like closed for mod rifle season now. so i should go about 70 percent gmus in washington. Start yesterday until march 15.  I am glad to be sure its safe to go. I don't want be in wood and not know what right and wrong. I rather be doing right thing.
