Remington 700 ADL V.S. Tikka T3 Lite
« on: September 29, 2010, 08:37:04 PM »
i am buying a new rifle( :whoo: )and i have narrowed it down to the remington 700 adl 30-06 and a tikka t3 lite 30-06 if you have either gun or have any opinions about either gun please post and help me out the 700 is 469.99 with scope(ill still have to buy one a scope because like usual its a 20 dollar scope) and case and the tikka is 549.99 with nothing on it, is it worth the price to get a lighter gun i dont know if one is more accurate then the other so just let me know thanks :hunt2:

Just bought a new 300 win mag. it came down to the tikka and the 700. I went with the 700. would have been happy with either. couldn't get by the clip on the tikka. The composit seemed kinda plasticy. and it is about $75 to replace, the 700 is about $30-35.

Do a search on Tikka T3 Lite on past threads and you will find a ton of postive comments.  Only down side to a Tikka is the safety is a bit too easy to slip off, and the aftermarket 5 shot plastic magazine is spendy.... approx $75 dollars shipped.

i did notice that too (the clip) but the 700 ADL is the one im looking at and it has no clip you just push the bullets in and there is no way other then using the action to get them out which would be a pain if your mooving in and out of a car but i dont think it be that easy to break the clip

i own both the 700's and the t3's in several calibers. both are very very good guns. you can not go wrong with either in my mind. but i tend to favor the t3 a little bit more. weight make a lot of difference in you plan on packing it a lot. the replace mags for it are spendy like said 70-90.00. the safety is not bad at all. the 700's are great! just a little more weight and not as smooth as the t3 to :twocents:

also the clips are not very easy to break ;) most people just want a second one to carry with them.

I personally have the Remington 700 30-06 and it is my go to rifle. Not sure if I will ever own anything other than the 700 of course multiple calibers.  Have not shot the tikka but I did not like the feel of it compared to the 700. I personally like all the extras you can get for the 700's since they have been around so long.

Light guns are fun to carry but not so much fun to shoot, make sure 30-06 recoil is acceptable to you in whatever weight package you go with! With a Tika weighing in at 6.18lbs....I would get the Remington.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

None in 06 but I own one tikka and a few 700's. For most hunters the tikka is a better deal, great out of the box shooter that wont need anything done to it. I prefer Remington 700's, with a little tweaking, trigger job and bedding you end up with a heck of a rifle.
Theres way more aftermarket parts for the Remington and ever gunsmith in the country will work on a Remington.
I don't really dislike the tikka but mine just fells like a cold piece of steel/plastic, no character.
Heres a picture of a friend admiring my tikka in 270wsm, wallmart parking lot in Ketchikan AK, the walmart in the background just makes this pic.

I agree completely.  And if you reload, there is a .6" jump to the lands for a standard lenght cartridge on the Tikka.  That is way to much of a jump in my opinion.
I hunt therefore I am.
