178 bull hunt pictures added
« on: October 06, 2010, 10:54:47 AM »
Hey there guys and gals,
Well as some of you know I drew a bull tag for the 178 and as it says in the regs it is mostly private ground, since the day I found out I was drawn I have been on the hunt ( consumed ) but it is all starting to come together meeting landowners, talking to biologist, getting maps, and looking around. I went up this last weekend to meet up with a couple of the landowners to get the permission slips and talk to them/ meet face to face, you can only do so much over the phone! I have been really impressed with the hospitality I have got from the majority of them! They have kept me posted on up to date news (locations/kills) a couple of them even said to "keep my phone on me during the season", knowing that I will for the most part be doing it alone, and where they will be hunting opening morning what they will be pushing, in the case I hadn't filled my tag yet. I also have to think the members on this great site for all the info that has been thrown my way from scouting, phone numbers, contacts, and even how to care for the animal in the case I get a hanger! you guys know who you are and I will pay you all back if there is a way, and if I can't then I will pay it forward as you did! I also have to think my boss for giving me 9 payed days off when I only had 2 pto left  :o: (I am sure there will be some wekend work in my future!)hello:
This hunt has done more than give me the opportunity to kill a true trophy that we all have dreamed of since we started this great sport, it has opened new doors, introduced me to new people and new friends, and hopefully great relationship for years to come!!  Well everyone it's getting close so I thought I would share my enthusiasm and appreciation with you, good luck to all in the coming weeks  :hello:
I wish I had some scouting pics to share with you all but I don't  :bash: the thing about scouting in this area is not seeing the bulls it is getting permission to go after the elk when my season starts! between archery, muzzly, and general deer it is crap shoot where they will be when it is time to go after them! just want to have the right to persue him when you find him is scouting in this area! Man I can't wait the suspense is killing me!

Nice job on getting permission and all of the leg work..Many hunters do the minimal..just saying.  I have the same maps at home.  It takes sometimes years of info to collect.  People down there are very nice I have found.  Good luck!

I know exactly what you are talking about yelp it is alot of work but I have enjoyed every moment! I ran into a guy (trespasser) last weekend that his boy had a bull tag for muzzy! he did nothing for his boy the right way just taught him to trespass! :bash: I hope after the little confrontation we had he will teach him the right thing from now on!

Don't see my places marked in yellow on there???  You never know when you'll come around the corner and there he is.  (Just don't put a hole in my cabin, the camper, no problem, but not the cabin, please....)  :chuckle:
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!
