Great way to start the day
«
on:
October 08, 2010, 08:30:10 AM »
I knew where a small flock of turkeys have been roosting, so I went out last night and right at dusk scattered the flock. Went out this morning, sat down, waited till I heard a bird fly down in the distance and started yelping the assembly call. I almost had to shoot one of the young hens in self defense she was running in so fast.
I had her tagged, photographed, cleaned, in the freezer and made it to work by 0815. Great way to start the day and a great way to end the season. I'll post a couple of photos shortly.

Nice bird! I almost had a flock called in on the last day. No joy I spooked them around 80 yards out when I moved.
When are you taking that Griffion pup of your's out again?

Congrats (got 2 myself and a buddy got 1 opening weekend) ! Saw a large bunch of quail on one of my landowners property just outside Colville while we there. It was good to see after some of the earlier reports this year. Also saw a large flock of small turkeys ... figure a really late harch on the group. But also saw several regular size hatchlings also.
Again congrats ...
