duck hunting without decoys?

anybody hunt ducks without decoys?  i doubt i'll do any duck hunting this year, but i was just curiouse if anyone hunts without decoys,  (mainly east side)

If you are hunting w/o decoys, don't be a jerk and take advantage of another hunter's spread by sitting a few hundred yards away and pass shooting birds that are working that spread. I've seen people do this on several occasions up at Welts. One guy was so blatant about it, we had to get up and run him off when he got within 50 yards of us "hiding" in the tall grass.

I love duck hunting as much or more than just about any other activity (almost) on earth. However I really dislike jump shooting. To me, that's not duck hunting at all. Duck hunting to me is about the decoying birds, wings set, landing gear down, belly beak bang!

+1 although a few hundred yards away is acceptable in my book, just so long as your not taking pot shots and sky busting... 70 yards away like the mother F*&^ing @holes i dealt with on saturday is enough to fight about especially if there is a whoooooooollllle bay they can hunt.

back in the day my hunting partners father shot a guys boat after he moved in on our spread and wouldn't leave. " he shouted better get moving before your boat fills up with water!" ... just one example of how pissed off that S*&t makes people .

Biginner, you should be able to come-up with some decoys........  All you need to do is hunt near SnowDog and wait for him to leave.

I hunt without decoys and I do just fine,if you find a spot the ducks wanna be in and you hide you wait till they come in but if your hunting somewhere where they need some coaxing then just get a few decoys like 3 or 4.

Grew up very poor and as a kid my brother and I hunted for meat.  We had a great area and would kill one or two ducks on the water.  Remember meat hunting.  We would take the dead ducks or geese and prop the ducks head up with a stick shaped like a "Y" and use it as a decoy.  After a while of that type of hunting God blessed us with two decoys we found on the side of the road while walking home. They must have fell out of someone's truck.  Those two decoys were our decoy spread for the next four years. 

I would not use the above for today or for any sport hunting.

Theres nothing wrong with jump shooting or pass shooting. It is just a different style, some people like it and some dont

i used to do a lot of jump shooting when I was a kid. we would belly crawl up to the ponds and put the sneak on the ducks, hand picking which one we "really" wanted first. geese too. we'd run across all of the local fields (farmer permission) and just spend hours walking field to field jumping ducks. But for me things have changed and jump shooting ducks doesn't have it's appeal to me. I just really enjoy watching them work the decoys. that's my favorite part I think.
