Teanaway deer numbers this year.
« on: October 21, 2010, 04:22:42 PM »
Used to hunt the Teanaway every year up til a couple years ago. Just wondering if anyone has been hunting there so far this year and if many bucks are falling. Deer numbers way down this year? Thanks

Only know of one nice buck out of the West Teanaway, not much chatter among the locals that I have heard.  Of course they tend to be pretty quiet about it anyway.

Saw a couple small bucks last spring turkey season. Lots of does. Haven't been out there this fall.

Teanaway was a bust for alot of hunters this year, with the HUGE and BRIGHT friggin moon all the critters were nocturnal.
It was like they had their own flood light for eating while the hunters had to disarm lol!

Spent ten days in 29 pines (with the freak screaming Chuck chuck Chukie in my camp) YES - i wanted to shoot him.
TANNERITE needed for target practice on opening day of each hunting season.

Just got back a couple hours ago. Saw 8 doe a spike and a two point that about gave me a heartattack. Did see one camp that had a hog next to the fire. Think I saw the picture of it at Teanaway mercitile. It was something like a 6x5 not to wide but had some mass. The store only had 5 bucks come in for pics the whole general rifle season!  No washington state mulie this year! But got a big trip planned for Montana in 2 weeks!!  :IBCOOL:

Got home around 4 this afternoon and saw more deer today than I have all week (and I was socked in in the fog for 5+ hours).  Warm weather and a near full moon all week really hurt us this year.  We've got a big crew and average around 5 or 6 bucks every season.  This year, we knocked down two and felt pretty fortunate.  The weather just screwed everything up.  I heard about a few big ones and saw a few average 3 points poking up in the bed of a few rigs. That's it.

I posted a pic of the dandy 28 inch 3 point that we took on opening day.  Check out the "Masher 3pt" post and I'll update with another really great 3pt that my dad took on the last Saturday.
There ain't much that won't fit in my fryin' pan!

Saw a handful of does this year no bucks. Weather was too nice. Didn't see as much bear sign this year either...I think the berries came in way later than usual.
Take up your bow, a quiver full of arrows, head out to the country and hunt some wild game.  GEN 27:3

Saw 3 legals bucks in 5 days hunting.  Dad got one decent 4 point.  More deer seen this year than the past two years.  Agree that the moon and bright nights kept the deer out late.  Most deer were moving to bed down at daybreak and would only come out briefly an hour or so before dark.  Not many shots heard either.
