I have it in both ears and have for about 15 years now. Its called Tenatus (spelling). Its permanent and comes from shooting guns all my life. Its done now but if I know I will do alot of shooting, I use plugs now to prevent further loss of hearing
I would recommend custom moulded ear plugs. I have three pairs that are for different uses, including motorcycle riding.I also have a pair of moulded electronic ear plugs. One side never functioned properly. However, I do use the good one for shooting at the range when you want to hear people talking paired with one of the other non electronic plugs. The downside to using electronics while hunting is having amplified (bionic) hearing that makes everything sound like it's right on top of you. You will not have any directional awareness with the electronic plugs.Because of that I normally wear a single standard moulded in my left ear while bird hunting. This allows directional awareness when a bird flushes and protects my most exposed and previously damaged left ear.
