Hit the roads or hike the hills (late tag)
« on: November 08, 2010, 02:35:57 PM »
We hunted 3 days over in Winthrop trying to fill our late chewuch tags but didn't see alot of deer. I passed on a decent 4 pt yesterday hoping I will get something bigger.(hopefully it was not a mistake..lol) We really have never hunted this unit much so we pretty much road hunted the whole time. I have never been a road hunter but not knowing the unit very well we figured we would be better off covering lots of ground. So having a late tag like this do you think it is wise to keep traveling the roads in hopes of coming across a shooter or should we be hiking the hills trying to find one? Just wondering what others think?  :dunno:

Either way works.  I will guarantee that there are a few big boys moving in off the beaten roads..........

Either one works, just depends if you rely on luck or your hunting skills.

Some responses say so much with the least amount of words.  :P Very well put.

There are plenty of FS roads off the W Chewuck road. Find a burmed or gated road, walk in, find a spot you can glass & be patient. PM me I can give more info.
