They came up with 179 2/8 plus 2 2/8 extra. 181 4/8 total gross. Not sure if that is all the way official or not yet.

Wouldn't this be official as they are official B&C scorers at that show?  Just a thought. :dunno:

Quote
Once a trophy has been officially measured there are a series of steps that need to be completed to insure the efficient and accurate processing of the trophy entry. The most obvious and basic item needed to enter a trophy is a fully completed, current, original score chart, signed and dated by an Official Measurer appointed by the Boone and Crockett Club. Photocopies of score charts, as well as incomplete score charts, are unacceptable. Entries submitted on Pope and Young Club score charts, or on outdated score charts, are also unacceptable. When an entry is not submitted on the correct (and properly completed) score chart, all other processing steps must wait until a correct and accurate original score chart is received.

ENTRY AFFIDAVIT
Another item of importance that must be submitted with each hunter-taken trophy is an original Entry Affidavit properly signed and witnessed. The correct Entry Affidavit is on the back of all current score charts.
The hunter’s signature on the Entry Affidavit needs to be notarized by a notary public, or witnessed by an Official Measurer. Once a trophy has been measured that makes the minimum score, the Official Measurer should give the trophy owner an opportunity to read the Entry Affidavit on the back of the score chart. Once the hunter is satisfied that he/she understands and meets all aspects of the Entry Affidavit, he/she should sign it in the presence of the Official Measurer who should then witness the hunter’s signature by signing and dating it in the spaces provided on the score chart.
Please note that the Official Measurer’s signature witnessing an Entry Affidavit on the back of the score chart is in addition to the Official Measurer’s signature on the score chart verifying his/her measurement. The Official Measurer must actually be present and see the hunter sign the Entry Affidavit before the measurer signs it, or the Entry Affidavit is unacceptable.

Generally if its going to "MAKE BOOK", they score it officially by an official member at the show.  If it will fall short, it still can be officially measured, but you obviously don't need to jump through the hoops of affidavits etc.  It can be submitted to the state etc if it is by an official registered measurer.  (PY and BC measurers count).

Im still confused. Dont you count the abnormal points in the Gross score? The sheet says 179 2/8 but does not include the 2 2/8 extra point. Wouldnt the total gross score be 181 4/8? Remeber I went to school in Omak be easy on me. I guess I have aways added all of it when I give you guys a total gross. Maybe I will have to clarify in the future.  :chuckle:

And Yes that is respectable.

I think it is the way B&C measures gross score.  That's why I like the SCI system better. :twocents:

I am not an expert, and it's been a while since I sat down and scored a Non Typical rack, but I think there are still deductions on a NT rack...  I'll have to take a look at the official score sheet and refresh my memory... :dunno:

I am sure that they still subtract the differences in the main frame then add the extra points for a Non Typical.

He was scored as a typical because that is what he is.  Line E doesn't matter unless it is going to put you at the 215'' mark.  So his gross score as a typical would be lines 1-3 added which would give you your gross typical score. Subtract line 4 which are your differences and you get your final typical score.  You could say his gross non-typical score is 181 4/8 but since he will not make it as a NT it does not matter.  Yes you do get deductions in the NT category because they still measure it as a typical frame deduct the differences and then add line E.  Below is a picture of a buck that is not in the book because he will not hit the 215'' mark.  His " Gross NT score" as you would add it would be 199 5/8.  Yeah it sucks, but that is the way it is with B&C.  I wonder if MM wants an update as to the official score?  171'' is still a great buck!

For some guys its all about the score which is cool, while for others its a personal preference. I fall into that personal preference in that I like a heavy horned which might not carry much length, or non typical that doesn't necessarily have to score high. A palmated deer is very cool in my books. But to each is own.

Why don't you save yourself the headache and not just post scores?  It already gets confusing when there is 2 different scoring systems and then a third one gets thrown in that nobody else knows.  171 net and 179 gross is a great buck!

Better yet I will just stop posting pictures all together. I stated very clearly it was a rough score at 189 total NT before it was dry. Its 181 4/8 NT. Im not that far off. Not sure why all the flaming me. Kinda old. Never did I claim to be a profesional nor did I claim it to be a final perfect score. Everyone was hounding to know the score so we threw a tape on it and that was what we came up with several times. I fell into the whole internet drama and it will be the last time I do. I think I have been on here long enough for people to know I am not some pompus chest beating self proclaimed know it all. I scored the buck for the guy, so did another member and that is that. This crap gets real old.

Later(possibly for good-Im taking a time out) Not cause my feelings are hurt. I hve thick skin. But cause there are too many pricks on here.
I agree! back the f off! the majority of folks on here couldn't even find deer of this caliber and someone is getting crap for not being a cert. scorer! I could care less if the guy told me it was 387 1/8 or 76 7/8 I would still think it was a monster! BTFO

Slinger, just remember all that matters is that Brad is happy with it, the buck is a pig no matter the score.
I've hunted almost everyday of my life, the rest have been wasted.
