when is this hunt? i hunted this area during modern and scouted it this summer.

Got any takers yet ?  I'm still contemplating whether to head down that way or stay up here and see if I can scrounge something up in the Issaquah Unit.

Hunting partners from last season are waffling and I just got an Email from a high school buddy that now seems interested but has never Elk hunted in his life.  It can really be hard to find a good Elk hunting partner sometimes.

Are you going to go the full late season in the same unit or take the hunt in pieces (2 days here, 3 days there) ?  I'm interested but would like to know more details.

Just remember that you will be hunting with the muzzleloaders up to Dec 8, Dec 9 is when the bowhunters will have it to themselves.

There is a ton of Muzzleloaers in the unit.  2 years ago the Warden was pulling people over on gravel roads in 516 and checking to see if they were muzzleloaders in the wrong unit.  Then looking for excuses like seat belts and things to give out tickets.  I talked to a couple of guys that I see every year one got a ticket had a busted taillight.

I hope that it's obvious that I'm kidding.  The more I think about it, the more I get interested in giving muzzleloading a try.  I drew a multi-season tag a few years ago and had the opportunity and luck to get a buck and it was an absolute blast.

I rifle hunted forever with a lot of success, archery hunted with good success on deer (not so much on elk) but I'd like to round off the experience with muzzleloading.

To be honest if you are hunting the Randle area in general I would stick with a bow, I personally thought I would try muzzleloader in that area this year now I am really regretting it.  During the early hunt there were easily 3 trucks at every gate in the Randle unit, and Mashel was just as packed.  Back to my bow next year my

Must be a huge difference huntin weekdays round there.  I hunted randle 2 days in the early hunt and only saw 1 other rig each day.  Down low mostly but went up high for a little bit. Accidently drove in a deep ditch and didnt see another rig for 3 hrs to pull me out.  I don't hunt the late hunt there but I hear it really gets crazy.  Use it to your advantage though, find the hidin holes.

No luck for me in the randle ear;y season.  Also hunted sw wa last 3 days and never got bloody.  Saw elk everyday and played cat and mouse with a nice 4x4 friday, then had another hunter shoot a different 4x right out from under me this morning.  We both entered the cut in different spots and had no idea he was there.  Would have taken a quick longer shot if I knew instead of spending time trying to sneak closer.
