It's been a long time coming, but I shot my first 4x4 blackie on the last day of the season for rifle. I have been hunting for 23 years and this is my biggest blackie, I had to pass up and have passed up a lot of nice deer in the past few years trying to nail a wall hanger. This guy may or may not be a wall hanger but I just couldn't pass him up. I did pass up the biggest two point I've ever seen earlier in the day and a 2x3 that would have also been close to a wall hanger, so with the last 10 minutes of light and seeing this guy with a doe my tag was filled and hunt was over. It's been an outstanding year for hunting, I posted my biggest elk ever taken and now my best blackie and with my daughters green river buck (posted on the youth board) I can't imagine a better season. I don't have much of a story but basically, I walked for many miles slowly and watched people drive by all day. To my amuzement some driving by the animals without even noticing them, well as luck would have it the last 10 minutes of light someone drove past me just as I was starting to head back to the truck. 2 minutes after this truck drove past me I noticed this doe standing 10 yards off the side to the road, I watched her for a couple minutes standing still and then this buck just stepped out behind her. That's pretty much it, not too exciting but it worked for me. Sorry for the terrrible pics, our good camera broke and I didn't have one with me in the field.
