I've been FOBbed!!
« on: April 10, 2008, 04:45:52 PM »
My FOBs arrived today. At first look, I could not believe that these LITTLE
things could make it any better.

I came home from the office, grabbed one of my brand new Vapor 4000 arrows,
and was hesitant to take off the fletching, but carefully removed the
fletching anyway. Put it on the bow, slid the tester back and forth with no
contact and lots of clearance, so I went ahead and put on the Blaze FOB.
Double checked clearance again. I am using the standard launcher on my QAD,
and since I cannot remember where I put the TL1 to keep it safe, thought I
would give it a go with the standard.

First shot was at 10 yards into my black hole target. Drew back and
anchored, (no problems here) and let fly. Right through the center.
Retrieved the arrow and went for the 20 yard bag target. Drew back,
settled, and let fly, SMACK, dead center again. Okay, still a fluke. Some
days are like this for a couple arrows.
Fired a few more at the 20 yard mark, all in the bullseye.

Now, I am a pretty new shooter, and the maximum yardage I have in my back
yard is 30 yards on the button. So, I only have my pins sighted for 20 and
30. I practice at 30, on occasion, but not as much as I should. I can
never seem to keep it in the bullseye at the 30!

So here I am, 30 yards. Let fly the first one, WHACK, bullseye in the
black. HMMMMM, maybe there is something to these goofy looking things.
Get the arrow and back to the 30 yard line. Same story, same results.  :yike:
After a few more arrows, I came in to strip the rest of
my arrows for the FOBs!!

I am a fan and a believer now, and I have not even fired my broadheads yet!

I have been promoting FOBS for 2 years now. It is amazing that I can switch from field tip to broad head and never change a thing. I use nothing but FOBs and recommend them to anyone I speak to. I have some for demo and I will bring some to the next meet.

I've seen them talk about them on Archery Talk. I have been interested in trying them, just haven't ordered any yet. It's good to hear more positive input on them. It's just going to be hard to strip my blazer and wraps off my new set of arrows.

Fletching Only Better

Just came in from shooting the broadheads.  AWESOME.  No more fletching for this kid!

I am a true believer after the last couple hours!!

I was not keen on stripping my new arrows, but I am doing so now.  Have "Real Flame" arrow wraps from BattleDrum Arrow Wraps on the way.  They will look great on the camo Vapor Pros with the blaze orange FOBs and Bohning Nocks.

Shot them with the Turkey Tearror and Wac 'Em Tritons.  Fly perfect.  Hit exactly as my field points.  Of course, I have not shot them any further than my backyard maximum of 30 yards.
So far I am a believer and love the way the shoot just like blazers without having to re-fletch!
