Late Season Entiat Archery 2010 Pics added
« on: December 02, 2010, 11:33:03 AM »
My season started November 21 but we went over to set up camp and do some more scouting. By the beginning of the season we had about 10 inches of new snow on the ground.
We ended up hunting for 8 days before we were to get my buck. With in those 8 days we seen some nice bucks some good shooters that we were not able to close on and some that we could have closed on that were not really quite what we were looking for. :bash: :bash:
On day 9 And just 2 days left in the season my son and I were going down a ridge and had spotted a nice buck on the top of the adjacent ridge. After looking at it for awhile we felt it was a nice buck but almost walked on it because we really felt we would not be able to get on him. As he was right out on a open face with no cover and a bunch of does around him. The other thing he did not really have the best width on his rack. But after some talk I decided to go for it as time was not on our side at this point.
So after making it back up the ravine and  to the top of the mountain I started to make the stalk around the mountain and to the buck. At about 150 yards I was almost busted by a couple of does :bash: :bash:. but to my relieve they put there head back down and started  to feed up the ridge. Then I heard antlers crashing together there was another buck in there and I did not know it. After a couple minutes of fighting they broke it off and they started to feed up the ridge. The good buck worked his way up and started to turn my way and fed right over this little knoll and right to me.  So we pulled the Mathews bow back and let her fly.
After being hit the buck took off running like no other. and mind you we were at the top of the mountain. This buck ran from the top around me and to the bottom and died at the bottom of this mountain in about 15 seconds. It was unreal how much ground he covered in such a short time. :yike: O yea he died just 50 yards from the road. :IBCOOL: Needless to say My son and I really liked that.
It was a great trip and good times spent with the kids.
I am not a big deer hunter must my hunts are for elk I know he does not have very good width but any ideas on score? He is about 23 1/2 wide

That's a great looking buck! For a score I'd guess around 155.

AWESOME BUCK!!!! CONGRATS

I am not the best at scoring but I'd guess that he's come pretty close to the 160" mark. However, I don't that it really matters a whole lot....he's worth taking in my book regardless!

Great looking buck! Congrats!  My guess is pushing 160" gross.

Great buck. That road looks a little scary. I think I would walk in from there.
