« on: April 12, 2008, 07:43:56 PM »
:) I got this fish about 4 years ago Whee..  I was all pumped after got fish out, it was big fish! how much weight do you think?  :dunno: I was fishing alone down river and there was a two little boys standing by me live around here and after I got fish out and asked him to take a picture of it. Oh no, not a good picture but better than nothing. so I release it. Cuz It was almost dark fish  :'( I couldnt hold this fish longer cuz my arm was dying by pulling hard for while.  :chuckle:
Could this king mouth cover my head with their mouth? What a big king.

I've caught some 40 plus pounders before & after looking at the pic I'd say it would go about 36-38 lbs. But pics can fool ya some times though. :fishin:

I've caught hundred of Kings.  Boat loads of 25-30's, Too many 40's, Numerous 50's and several in the 60's class.  Fished Alaskan rivers for almost ten years on very active basis.  He is getting past the spawned stage and lost of alot of body weight, but in prime I'm sure he'd be 45 or around....  Never the less, a great fish.  Would have been a heck of a fight from shore in his prime, fish like that normally very tough to tackle with small gear on fast rivers....

I think the picture is sort of decieving...  It's hard to tell with nothing to give perspective so I'll say 33 lbs.

Fresh that would have been a 50 pound fish.  In his condition 38-40.  Good job for turning him back.

Ya  Jackalope It was at Naselle river. Some dark and some Chrome. not really exciting. Sometime soo many people.  I have caught pretty many Kings there, I have never feel that so HEAVY in whole my life. I would probablly guess 40 to 45lbs. Dang I was using 25 lbs fishing line. whee...

LOL  Hey, a sealion might have eaten the back half of him.  Anyways, I know my trick photography and I see how he's holding it out to the camera.  Very similar technique that I used to take photos of my moose to make it look big...   I'm not saying it isn't big, but it's not a 50 pounder.  (I think?)  ;)

Looks like the Skook almost, and that would make it a Skook upriver bright.  :chuckle:

I landed a chrome 55 pound King in the Skook on a fly rod.  Took me about 3 hours.  Son of a gun almost spooled me going upriver.  Almost drowned me in a stupid gillnet.

Great fish Coon!  If your gonna release a fish that big you gotta be careful holding it by the gills....especially in that condition.  Sounds like it was a clean release though.  Good for you.

Just as a percepecitve.....first picture is a 48lb. King I got a couple years ago.  Like someone else said.....extremely hard to hold a fish that large with one hand.  As you can see it took me two.

Second picture is exactly 35lbs.

I would say yours was mid-40's at least!

No way that guy's as big as you Leif  ;)

They jaw kype of a freshwater King makes it appear larger than in the salt, I still say 36 -38 but darn nice fish.

Low 40s.  No offense but that bugger looks pretty dark and half dead.  Did he fight good?
