Couldn't Pass Up the Good Deal...
« on: December 12, 2010, 02:43:10 PM »
... and picked up a Savage Edge in .308 Win yesterday from Cabelas ($249.00 and a 5% military discount).  Definitely, didn't need another .308 but, love the cartridge and it will make a great deer camp back-rifle or project gun.  Talk about a lightweight rifle (a little over 6 lbs), its going to be easy to carry in the field (with a Sightron 3-12X42 and EGW one-piece base on top).  Who knows, if it shoots as good as advertised, my Rugers may be spending more time in the gun safe.

I have heard they are good rifles.  I dont need another .308 either but I am looking for a Savage Scout.  What a sweet rifle, I am really hoping to be able to use it next season.  Good luck with the new rifle.

Nice price.  How's the trigger on that?  Love the Savages with the Accutrigger. Might be looking for a new rifle for my daughter in .243 or 7mm-08.

It's not a target trigger by any means, but it is a good hunting trigger.  My Edge's is 5-6 lbs with no creep.  I prefer triggers that are a little heavier on my deer rifles because I often wear gloves.  You can always install a Rifle Basix trigger if you want a lighter pull. I also picked up a couple Stevens 200s a while back in .223 and .243 for yotes.  The triggers on the Stevens are very easy to adjust (have both at about 3.5 lbs) and they shoot sub moa all-day. I'm sure that the Edge will group just as good as the Stevens.
