Could any of you tell me if you can buy over the counter deer and/or elk deer tags for out of staters in Idaho, if so how much are they?
Thanks,
Dave

You can but there are quotas so you better hurry and get them before they sell out. Some of the elk tags are already sold out. And SE Deer tags are gone, I believe. All the information is on the Idaho Fish and Game website here:

They're NOT cheap, but then is anything anymore. When buying deer, you need to commit to either whitetail or Muledeer. That can sometimes be hard in that state.

Hey thanks for the info guys
If I go I think it will be up north in the pan handle. Would it be better to target WT or Mulies up there? I shot a nice WT this year up near the ID border on the Wa side>
Wow, I just looked outside and its snowing like crazy. Is this Apr or Dec?

THere are big muleys in the panhandle, but your odds are much better with whities. Unless you have an inside track, they are very hard to track down.

the general deer tags can be used for either whitetail or mule deer in most units while the whitetail tags have some extra seasons and allow a lot more doe hunting, so if you were to buy a general tag the seasons for unit 1 for example, you could hunt with a rifle from oct 10-31 for whitetail bucks only, november 1-dec 1 for bucks of either species and a doe whitetail could be killed anytime from oct 10-dec 31, whereas with a whitetail tag you could only shoot whitetail bucks and does from oct 10-dec 31, kinda a bad example since the seasons run together but you get the point hopefully.
