I had one and didnt care for it. The glass was very good ,all the adjustments worked great, but the actual circles were just to big IMO. I changed it out for a Burris with the Bplex, should say this was on one of my yote guns, where you cant afford to have a cluttered reticle.

I have the last Monark 3X9X40 on my 06 w/o BDC. Love it great glass. Didn't like the BDCs, to much clutter. The scope I have is now the TEAM PRIMOS model, Exact same scope, can be bought for around $200. Lota scope for less bucks IMHO Just my 2 pennys

this is a good thread...Im very interested in peoples actual experience with the BDC for deer/elk... seems like it could be great but I remember being concerned about the size on the circles as well...
This thread might derail me from the 650$ Monarch - someone has to have personally used the BDC and have an opinion on its application?

You should consider the Leupold VX-III with a Boone & Crockett reticle. Here is a good article about it:

My experience mirrors Sagedawg.
My BIL gave me a Nikon Monarch UCC 3-9x40mm BDC for our nephews rifle. Glass was very good, but the BDC reticle just looked too "cluttered".... busy looking view!
Leupold's B&C reticle is not bad. I actually prefer the Leupold LR Duplex as it's simple and doesn't have the "cluttered" look.

ok besides the clutter, did the BDC work like Nikon claims it does. I have lookied through them and the clutter doesn't seem to bother me personally.

I have the buckmaster with BDC and took a deer with it last year but it was only 20 feet away. I have had it out target shooting up to 300yrds and like it.

+1 to Sagedawg and Fishseeker.
I would buy a Burris if I needed a ballistic compensator.
Nikon Monarch (Primos included) glass is excellent.

im pretty happy with the burris system....its not too busy..just try the dots out for real...sometimes they may not calibrate exactly as the box says

not really sure i'd be too concerned with a bdc scope on my '06. with a ballistic chart and some practice you could pretty much shoot to 300 yards without too much holdover if any at all...i can anyway. not too sure how much further beyond 300 you want to shoot with an '06. 165 tsx's work like a champ. my buck this year was 295 yards..put crosshairs a couple inches high and squeeze!!
just my .02 i guess.

I dont need a compensator shooting 300 yards with a 300 win mag. but, I cant calculate proper hold over for a 600 yard shot... Ive got a range finder and now would like a scope that would make that a reasonable endeavor with some practice.
Its a rare opportunity but what the hell, gotta have something to bitch about...my current thing is a 600 yard shot aided by a compensating scope
