Returning stuff to Cabelas
« on: March 18, 2011, 12:51:50 AM »
Anyone have any trouble or experiences returning stuff at cabelas.  I bought a pair of those thinsulate lined Muck boots and the soles started to come apart after the first time I used them.  I like them a lot, so hopefully it's just a bad pair.

No problems.  I just filled out the form and sent the stuff back.  It took a while to get a replacement.  After I sent the electronic call back, I realized I forgot to put the cable for MP3s in the box and just took it to the Lacey store.  They tagged it and did their thing.  Other people I've know have had no problems returning stuff either.  Some of the stuff makes it to the Bargain Cave.

No problems at all, they just wanted to know why I was returning the items and were polite and even said "sorry for wasting you time". This was the Lacey store, their customer service was excellent both times I returned something.

They changed some off their policies last year, so it will depend on how long you've had it if they will take it back on return or exchange.  I think their name brand boots are the only things with lifetime garentee and most stuff is only 90 days now.
May that for which I prepare never come to pass.

They've taken stuff back so readily it made me feel guilty.  My first set of MT050 raingear started to fall apart and leak after about 7 or 8 years of use.  I only use them for hunting, so they were just old more than anything.  The Gore-Tex layer was literally cracking and crumbling.  I wanted to know if that was normal and that they were used up.  I hunt the coast so they had a lot of use.  They said go upstairs and pick out a new set then swapped them out for no charge.  I could not believe it.  That was a couple hundred dollars worth of raingear.

I had purchased a topo software program that sucked that I intended to return, but after they swapped the raingear I felt guilty enough that I kept the map program.

Success!

I'm a believer now...My wife bought those boots for me for Christmas on Dec. 18, so the lady at customer service acknowledged that I was 2 days past the 90 day return policy for non cabelas products...but they gave me 100% refund anyway.  They didn't even really inspect the boots, they just looked at the receipt.

I went back and bought a similar set of Muck boots.
