Remington R-15 VTR
« on: February 06, 2011, 10:32:49 AM »
I did a seach on this gun and nothing really came up. Does anyone know anything about or have any experience with the Remington R-15? Besides the $1100 price tag. :'(     It sure looks like a nice rifle and I'm in the market for for a new one. Any information or other suggestions would be helpful. I'm looking to stay with the .223.

I don't have one but have heard good things about them

I don't own one, but for $1100 you could almost build two J&S weapons.  I do have a DPMS rifle on a J&S stripped lower that is just awesome to shoot.

I have one and it is my second most accurate rifle besides my CZ 527 in .223 Rem.  It easily shoots MOA and I am not the greatest shot unfortunately.  I just ran some 60 grain handloads through it and it was unbelieveabley accurate.  I thought about building one but I kinda like camo guns.  I bought the CS version and put the Max-1 Nikon Coyote Special on it.

My only complaint is with the barrel steel.  Like my 870 you really need to keep it oiled or it will start to rust.  Other then that I like it alot.

I went to the big pdx gun show yesterday. They had them for 999.00 I have been watching them a lot. I can get them for a little cheaper 8) I don't think you can go wrong with them. Yes they are made by bushmaster, Remington puts a camo paint job on it and stamps it Remington. Remington,DPMS,Bushmaster are all owned by the same company.

Rock River Arms is giving some great deals on AR's now.  Lower prices, and free options like scope mount, etc.  Check 'em out!

Sportsmans Warehouse in Wasilla had them for 899 over Christmas.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Thanks guys. Doesn't sound like anybody has anything negative to say about them. Looks like it might be time to start shopping around.

for 1100 you could build your own and have $$ left over for optics, ammo, and range time. I'm building my own right now and if i can do it anyone can. PM me if you need some resource info

I have the bushmaster ar-15 and my two buddies have the r-15 they like them but they dont like that there is not very many access. you can get for them like ar-15. There is a place in yakima called stadler arms that sells them for 950.00 every day and that is for the VTR r-15

I can only assume but i believe they are referring to accessories that match the R-15's finish. They are out there but far fewer and the additional cost of adding your own camo finish to match makes some of the more affordable AR accessories slightly less so
