williams creek?
« on: February 12, 2011, 04:02:37 PM »
i'm looking to try a new area out for elk next season and i was going to scout out this unit. i was wondering how anybody else has done here and what the unit was like. my area i am not seeing any elk and very little sign and i know it well so i thought i would try out a new area. it is about a 2 1/2 hour drive though and would like to know if it is worth it. any info would be appreciated and you can pm if you like

Before you make a decision, the way that area can be hunted may soon be changed.  Most of country in that unit that was owned by weyco is now currently owned by Hancock so the scene could be a little different next year.

Its part of it, and then north up 101 as well, as well as other sections with it.

Scout both areas.  Williams creek has a gob of elk.  But, you will not be alone.  Even in Archery season.  To early to tell about public access.  Stay tuned.

Last year during early archery all the road were Red Dotted.  I heard Hancock has bought a good chunk in the past couple months.  As far as camping goes you can get a camping permit from the Pe Ell office and camp on the hwy 6 side of the unit, however the 101 side is ran by the Aberdeen office and they allow zero camping.
