An interesting read as we all dream about drawing our tag and getting out on the hunt.

Very interesting.  Thanks!

In another surprise, the researchers discovered that bears, like groggy people in the morning, are slow to recover from hibernation. The researchers had expected to find the animals' metabolism returning to normal levels right away. But instead, the bears' metabolic rates did not return to their active levels for two to three full weeks.

Surprise? C'mon. Another example that some people don't pay attention. Ask any bear hunter about bear activity in the spring and they can tell you that bear are slow to get started.

Groggy and don't eat anything but new green stuff ------ But once that plug comes out, look out --they feast.... Finding a nice slope right at the right time is ticket and absolutely perfect cause they hang around for several days...  Hides are perfect.  Oh -I am getting excited again, longing for AK this spring as I miss baiting season the most...  Guess I'll have to wait till drawn this spring for some spot and stalk here in Washington...
