remington/spartan gunworks--side by side rifles.
« on: May 16, 2008, 11:16:56 PM »
i remember a few years ago that remington was trying to bring out a side by side rifle, in two calibers, 45-70, and 30-06..
they are not listed on the website any longer. this sucks, wish they would keep to their word.. anyone seen one of these?

found this on another forum in a very old 2+ year old post regarding these remmy double guns...

Quote
Izhevsky Mekhanichesky Zavod is the long standing arms plant in Russia.

These double and combo guns are also known by the trade name Baikal. Generalllly - these guns sold for much less than msrp. even when brought in by importer, European American Armory.

Double and combo guns are popular in Europe - but not here, except for the Savage combos... that's about it in this price range.

These are no frills, mass produced firearms made by government employees where part of their benefit package is to live on-site... workin' folks guns that work very admirably without all the aesthetics.

Baikals are definitely built like a tank.....
I had a chance to shoot a s/s shotgun 1 time.  It was an OK gun.  I've also heard some decent things about their autoloaders.  That being said I've heard some horror stories about the guns they make/made for Remington.

Do your due diligence before slappin down your cash......
