Sako A7...recommendations...opinions...etc....
« on: March 31, 2011, 08:09:57 AM »
I've been reading all your posts for about six months now and have gotten a lot of useful info. I'm in the market for my first rifle for deer and elk. I found a Sako A7 for $700 and want to know if I should pull the trigger. I've looked at the Tikka T3 and Rem700, but for $100 more....? Is there anything else I should be looking at? Also what scope would you recommend? I'm hoping to stay in the $1000 range for the package. Thanks for your help.

:) looked at A7's before I bought my last rifle. The stock is crap, extremely flimsy. The tikka stock is stiffer.

My buddies got the Sako A7 in 30-06, and it seems nice and shoots good, that being said I have a tikka t-3 in 270 wsm and it shoots awesome also. I have a nikon buckmaster 3-9 scope on it and really like it. There are some other scopes out there that are just as good in the same price range. I would look through a bunch of scopes and decide which one you like better. I paid under a 1000 for my set up. I also took off the scope rings that came on the tikka and put some better ones on.

I think the sako is a better rifle than the tikka.   I would check out the Browning a bolt and x bolt too. One of those would be my number 1 choice if I was buying a new rifle.  :chuckle:
