Nice cover boneaddict.

I see that late muzzleloader blacktail season is still starting a day later than the late archery. Does anyone know why that is? I wrote a letter to the WDFW a couple months ago and asked them about it, and if they could change it so that muzzleloader would open the same day as archery, but I never got a reply back. I still thought they might listen to me and change it but now I see that my request fell on deaf ears.

I see another change- they added the average points of the people who drew permits, for each hunt, along with the number of applications for that hunt. I sure wish they wouldn't do that. All that's going to do is give people false hope. We see it all the time on here where people ask how many points does it "take" to draw a certain hunt. Well, the average points of the people who happened to draw a permit is NOT the same as the number of points it "takes." Just as an example, look at the modern firearm Peaches Ridge permit that was September 19-23. There were 1,524 applications for that hunt, and the average number of points was three.    :o

Marketing tactic.  Makes people think they have a chance, therefore WDFW will sell a bunch of apps to guys that think the average number of points actually means something.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

I didn't like that. It makes it more cluttered looking.

They split up the Dayton bull tags this year! Great I wanna waste my points to only hunt land outside the national forest! I like the extra bull
Tags they did add in the blues but why split up that hunt!?

Probably to put some hunting pressure on the elk that are on private land. Otherwise there's a good chance anyone who drew a permit for that unit would only hunt the public land.

They also took almost all of the new last year late Blues mule deer permits and made them any buck 3 pt. minimum...not just muleys, at least thats the way it looks to me. Should make some of those permits more appealling...more shootable deer between whitetails and muleys anyway.

Looks like they took the first 4 days from the ML blue mt. Foothills permit in the past it always started on the 20th now its the 24th, those 4 days are smokin hot for the rut, total b.s.

I wouldn't say it's false hope at all, it seems the guys with lower points are getting some pretty nice permits. That peaches ridge tag is a great example of someone with hardly any points drawing a tag that I'm sure a lot of guys with 10 or more were trying for.  And three muzzy elk tags in the wenaha went to guys with an average of 4 points... I wouldn't say false hope.

Basically it shows points don't out weigh luck. It's the average #, so people had less points and more than the average. It's like the lottery you can have your name in the hat 100 times but it only takes 1 to win   ; )

If I read it correctly they took some muzzy elk tags in the blues away and put some in for private land owners? Is that correct?  If so WTF, if no- please tell me I'm reading it wrong. thanks

what is u[p with some of the blues areas with the low tag count. Some places are hard to get to but not many tags? Is it lack of elk like the clockum cause of poaching and STUFF....
