2011 Yelp's Turkey Camp
« on: April 13, 2011, 06:53:41 PM »
Heading out tommorrow.  Camp is looking good.  Got a roof put on the cooking shed.  Can't wait to kick back with my buddies!  Good luck to everyone.  Also just found out that the Miles Creston Road will be closed after April 25th they are going to redo the Hawk Creek grade all the way to Fort Spokane.  Hunters will have to go to Davenport to head north or Keller Ferry.  Later.

Oh yeah don't forget to use your squealers!   8)

Should we be doing anything different in the rain?

yep...drinking coffee in camp!  :chuckle:

Rain makes turkey hunting pretty tough.  They are usually less inclined to gobble, but can still come to a call.  I try to hunt more open areas and stay until I'm too miserable to continue.
They will often stay in roost a bit longer too.

Good luck this weekend guys!

Good luck to all you squealers.
I won't make it out till May, which at the rate this weather's going, may not be a bad thing.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield
