2011 F150 with Eco Boost V6
« on: April 19, 2011, 04:38:08 PM »
Anybody out there buy one of these trucks yet?  I'm shopping around and since I don't haul/tow a lot of weight(when I do tow), this engine sounds like it may be the answer for owning a truck with a 6.5 ft. bed that gets decent fuel mileage, yet still has the horsepower to tow when needed.  Would love to buy the diesel, but since I don't do much towing or haul heavy loads very often, spending that extra $7800 for the diesel motor is hard to justify.

I have heard that most of the additional cost of the diesel (at least in the super duty) was in the emissions system.  I am not sure if it has the DEF tank or a reburner, but the reburners and catalytic converters were supposed to be worth $5k.  They have paladium or some other metal that makes them work.  I personally think the DEF thing is an issue waiting to happen, and the exhaust stuff can be removed. :twocents:

ECO Boost ?...Does it blow sunshine and flowers up your rear?.......Only Ford would come up with something stupid to make it sound like your helping the environment with this motor..........LOL :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Check out the Tow Vehicle forum at RV.Net. There are already a few guys using the Eco-Boost to tow their trailers.

After the fiasco with the 6.0 Powerstroke,I can't believe that Ford would put an engine out that wasn't FULLY tested.

That "horrible" 6 liter is in my truck with 236K on it with nothing but maintenance done. Best truck I have ever owned. I am buying a new Ford when this one has any problems but so far I have no reason to trade it in.

You got a good one. That doesn't mean much to the thousands of people that didn't. You can't deny that the 6.0 was by and large a POS. The first three model years of the 6.0 Powerstroke, cost Ford over 500 million in warranty repairs. It also ended a decades long relationship between Ford and International.
