I think I'll apply for sheep this year too.  I'd love to draw with 1 point just to piss everyone off that have butt-loads of points........ :chuckle:

Bobcat, you're most likely not even going to draw anyway..........
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Don't waste your time applying your just throwing your money to the wind!!

You could always make a couple bugle tubes or powder horns with them  :dunno:

Now there's a good idea! I could use a powder horn for black powder hunting.   :IBCOOL:

I do not understand the meaning behind some of there laws.....oh well.

It is to deter poachers.  And more importantly, to prevent the commercialization of our magnificent wild animals and their body parts.

:yeah:

I found a nice Ram skull several years ago.  I sure wanted to keep it.  But luckily I knew the law and just left it.  Sure would have made a nice trophy though......

F'ing poachers sure can screw up things for law abiding people. >:(

If you have a valid tag/permit you chould be able to trade a cape for a euro mount to a liscenced Taxidermist. The law is dumb. Makes no sence.

I'd do a wall pedistal.  Somehow they don't quite seem large enough for floor pedistal, but that would look good too.

I really have come to like wall pedistals.  here is my impala-I like the way it gives a different perspective on the mount.

Wow some of you guys must know me better than I know myself!  As I said before, I understood that he was telling me I shouldn't apply for a bighorn sheep hunt so that someone else might draw it who would want to get a head mounted for their wall.

You seem to read way more into this than was intended. I'm not sure I could recognize you in a crowd. I only drew my conclusions from your many posts on the odds of drawing various tags.
I did say that if you weren't able to have a mount done or the fact that your wife is opposed to having it your home you maybe let some one else have a chance. Hence a ghost point

And that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I'm not going to quit trying for a sheep tag after applying for 15 years. I really can't believe anybody would even say that. I would never tell anybody not to apply for a hunt because I thought I was more deserving of the tag.

I would not discourage you from applying with 15 points either. But with out disclosing how many points I have. I can tell you that I have points built from when the apps took money up front and they sat on it for 4 months and then returned the funds less 5 bucks way back when if not drawn.  Also not saying that I am more deserving of the tag than yourself. But you could very well be a close second or third.
For the record I am still in favor of the upfront money as well.

It's actually pretty sad that hunting has come to this. It used to be about putting food on the table. Now to some people it's nothing more than putting a trophy on the wall.

I believe that if you were to poll the forum certain tags on here are considered "Trophy's" in anyones Bucket list.
Moose (Was lucky enough to draw in 08)
Cougar ( was able to fill that last fall)
Sheep (Going to ghost this due to the fact Hunting buddy was drawn for the multi elk.
Goats still hoping
Wolf if by some chance that we ever are allowed to hunt them here.

Not trying to draw lines in the sand just my 2 cent's

I would never do a ghost point for sheep or moose. The odds are so low that I feel I need to be in the drawing every year. If I draw one, I'll drop everything else and concentrate on nothing but that tag.

So if you've been applying for sheep since the beginning, you must have 16 points (for this year).

I would definitely get a pedestal shoulder mount... Definitely! With that said, I do LOVE Euro mounts. Here is a small sheep we have hanging in our office...

Too bad the Obama /Biden pic is there.  It kinda ruins the cool euro mount. :(

Those look great! I really like them. Now if I can just draw that sheep permit!

Not bad odds with 15 points... it's about 1 in 100. How can I NOT draw?   :dunno:
