Ranger Finders
« on: May 30, 2008, 09:40:04 PM »
How many people actually use range finders while bow hunting?  I was at the range today working on knowing the yardage, and I can definitely understand where they'd come in handy.   I'm just wondering how many people actually use them.

When I shot my fisrt deer with my bow I range him a few times. If you have the time it is good to range them. When ever your out an about use your rangr finder the more you use it eventually you'll be able to get really close on knowing your distance just by eye. I'd still be using mine if some sob hadn't stole it.
Hunting and Fishing is not what I do. But who I am...

I used mine a lot for Turkeys this year.  Have used it rifle hunting many times as well.
I agree that the more I use it, the better I get at guesstimating.
I take it with me when I am out and about in the woods and pick a spot and take a guess, then verify it with the finder.

I use mine all day and each shot if possible. I hunt on the east side and the different terrains really screws me up on my estimating. I won't leave home without mine. Last year I had a spike bull out in front and my range finder in my pack. Estimated 30, was 42 missed right under chest. I had plenty of time to get it to, just to excited. My range finder makes my shots 300% more accurate, when used. :)

I use mine all the time. In the field, at the range, whatever. I suppose if I didn't have time, I would just guess, but if I'm being stealthy, I should always have time even if stillhunting. When I hunt from a ground blind or treestand, I always range my surroundings after I get settled, so I don't have to spend the time when the animal is coming in.
