what really sucks is that the nock point isn't much better, although the guy who used to run it is really knowledgeable, when i was a kid I used to take the bus from mukilteo to the nock point when they were still at the gun range right off the freeway and piss away all of my paper route money, but the guy who runs the place was always put off by my presence. good thing for e-bay and mail order or people in Snohomish county would be screwed.

I actually have eprerianced exactly the opposite from The Nock Point. I've found them to be very helpful and they had great customer service.

Ditto...as a complete newbie with a POS bow I didn't buy from them...probably been there 5 times in the last couple years, nothing but good from those guys.

I didn't even buy field tips. Yep, a free dozen......CUT & TUNED even! Your choice even special orders.

The furniture shop will even let you use the leather couches a back stops to test the bows they offer.

Just tell them D-Rock said so!

All kidding aside customer service is very important. Hopefully people will get issues resolved and/or find a good "home" shop.

This is second hand, but.... From my understanding Its a family business. The father had a small archery shop and the wife a funature shop. As time went by the archey shop got bigger. I think the son is trying to work/take care of the business. I'm sure there is some family friction that causes havock, not unlike many ohter family businesses.  :twocents:
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

I'll have to admit that my first time in there was less than stellar, mentioned a friend's bow and her needing arrows and i got 'she needs a new bow' and he was very difficult to get off that track.  She shoots longbow, usually cedar arrows with either field or broadheads.  I am working with a recurve...I'm surprised he could even SEE me after that with the long looks down the nose.

I'm still looking for somewhere to get arrows for each of us.

you got most of it right.  John is Bobs grandson.  Bob owns it and john does the bow work.

Haven't been to Van Winkles', but this has been my experience at most local shops when looking for traditional gear/supplies... always get a "you should buy a compound" response.  It's understandable, though - not as many gadgets for stick flingers to purchase, so the business case isn't there for a small outfit to cater to the traditional croud.  I do tend to spend a lot on arrows, though...
I've had good experiences with Riverside, despite limited traditional supplies.  Pretty good folks there.

It was Johns late season teanaway tag.  I think the bull was scored around 330.
