I bet he hiked alot further for his first buck. He did pass up a nice one pretty early in the hunt though. I think he almost got ran over by some Elk one night while sleeping in the middle of a Elk trail too. I was talking about a hunt in Idaho a few years back. When you see him tell him Steve said hello.

i myself would not spend a penny at van winkles strictly because of the customer service they have there. i have been in there several times now to look/buy stuff and never had the dude behind the counter even acknowledge that i was in the shop, maybe i didnt look like i was rich enough for his likings :dunno: anyways, i do all of my business at the nock point, bill has always been great to me so no reason to go elsewhere. if the nock point closes at any time i will def. be taking my business to gary up at riverside, only reason i dont go there more is because he is so far from monroe. the nock point is kind of geared more towards the shooting side of archery and riverside seems to be geared more for the hunting side.

I had a very good experience with the wholesale sports store in Burlington, the young people are very nice to talk to, helpful and friendly. I get my cheap deals on Gold tips there and they do fine with basics.

However, I had a persistent problem with my Martin Sabre and ended up going to Gary at Riverside. He was a master mechanic when it came to figuring the problem out. He figured out that my peep was too low and draw set too short. Slapped on a new cam module, moved the peep and had me shooting better than I ever have.  He watched me shoot and made a few more adjustments. I gained 20 FPS and 20 yd groups that touched!

Gary is a great guy, Supports Silver Arrow Bowman and Whidbey Island bowmen. Takes good care of his customers, and the clubs near him.

This is why its nice to have a "small" forum where we can actually bring in a rep from the company in question and throw our ideas at them for improvement. Remember kesselrings a few years back enough people on here started whining and eventually the owner heard about it and personally set to setting the store straight.

It would probably be extremely beneficial for D-Rock to have the fellas over there take a look at what people think about them. Let them read it first hand versus just telling them, could end up saving there business in the long run.

I have not had very good luck with them. They don't seem to be willing to answer questions or help out.

I would pay a little extra to go to Riverside.  I have been in Wholesale sports and watched the individuals in the archery shop on several occasions.  They are young and just lack the experience that Gary has.  They get you set up with the equipment, but that’s as far as it goes.  Tuning the bow is another art for many.  Gary has helped by standing over my shoulder making sure all the basic form is good then make corrections to the bow, knocking point, drop away, etc.  Very helpful.  You can save a little else where probably, but I don’t mind spending a little extra for all the help he provides.

I've heard very good things about Riverside Archery as well.

You can buy stuff cheaper, but SERVICE is actually what your getting.
Law of business, pick any 2, Low price, Great service, Great quality. You won't find all three ANYWHERE!
How many times have you tried to "Save" a few bucks? I know i have and all I ended up doing was making my self mad, adn buring the difference up in fuel or my Mistakes.  :twocents:

We offer three kinds of service:
            GOOD - CHEAP - FAST
             You can pick any two
GOOD service CHEAP won't be FAST
GOOD service FAST won't be CHEAP
FAST service CHEAP won't be GOOD
