pacyew and I were out snooping around. Here's what we found today...
2 young goats and mother. One appeared to be a yearling and the other probably this year.
Then two fawns and a doe.
We also saw some marmot, pika and a few other critters up to no good. Maybe he will share some more photos.....

Very nice pictures, did you get to the goats in one day or did you over night it?

these goats are not in a hunting unit. it took us about 2 hours to get to their area.
these photos were out of pacyew's camera.

Great Pics! you were obviously above tree line. Where's the snow level right now? Seeing two kids is a good sign for the health of the herd. Saw a goat about a month ago on top of Mt Si. They're everywhere...

The snow is hanging around mostly on the north and east facing slopes. I suppose that it was only about a foot or two deep in most places between 5500 and above to around 6500 feet which was as high as we went and could melt out fast. On the south and west facing aspects we did not start seeing snow patches until around the 6000 foot level.

Same area, but in October 2006. It's possible that the Nanny and young kid here are the Nanny and yearling we saw with the young new kid last week.
Also, more pics of the same doe and twin fawns.

great pics and thanks for sharing.
gocougs said he saw a goat on mt. si which got me thinking. a month and a half ago or so, the wife and i were fishing rattlesnake lake in north bend. i kept looking at what i thought was 2 goats on the face of rattlesnake ridge, but i honestly can't say for sure they were goats, mostly because i didn't think they lived there, and i didn't have my bino's either. i guess maybe they were goats? if i saw them move much i would have thought for sure they were.

Jackelope,
They are there. As I think that Huntwa and Pacyew can attest, there are a lot of goats up there. Most any place in WA (cascades and Olympics) that has subalpine areas typically will hold some goats. I've seen them on every pass and in most of the high country areas. I did some climbing in the 7devils wilderness (Idaho) last year and the three goats we passed on the way up were still there on our way down. When they are comfortable, they'll stay in one spot for quite some time. Saves energy
