.223 Blanks

Will .223 blanks run like normal ammo? Could a guy buy some, load up a 30 round mag and let 'er rip? No real reason why I want to, just wondering. If so, how is enough back pressure built up to cycle the bolt/carrier?

Nope you need a blank adapter to hold enough pressure to cycle the action. Side note: those are highly corrosive and will dirty up an action like you can't believe.

YA GOT THAT RIGHT, training missions were the fricken worst, made it to where i wouldnt even fire if thatwas all we had, cause it took along ass time to get your weapon clean enough to turn in

Yes, if you are firing on an AR platform (or any other semi-auto) you need a blank adaptor.  They might work in a bolt action though .
Woodchuck is right on about the carbon buildup though.  I still have nighmares about cleaning M-16s after blank firing missions....

If you want semi-auto you have to use the plug on the end of your gun. They will work singal action. Clean-clean and clean some more.
