tamarack springs
« on: June 27, 2011, 07:37:52 AM »
Headin over to scout some and tool around in the jeep this weekend. I hear that most of ways into the area washed out. So I'm curious if anybody has been up and around the area. One of my partners drew the Bull for modern, so gotta work on some scouting.

Both the taneum and manashtash are washed out and the bad news is they might not fix either road this year. Be aware they wrote tickets to the jeepers that drove/winched through the wash a couple weeks ago in the manashtash.

It sounds like there could be some good hunting up there if a guy wanted to do some serious hiking or mountain biking.

Does anyone know if all the roads that go in there are closed and where at? I'm sure there is alot of guys that camp/hunt up there that are now screwed. I know there is still acsess via the 4x4 trails from the 410 side.

You can get up there via Joe Watt canyon.

Ya you can get up thru Joe watt and by going up woods and steele rd up to five corners on peoh point then back down the Taneum rd and back up to tamarack to. Friend of mine who lives over there talked to forest service and said they were gunna fix the taneum and buck meadows but not until july they figured when water slowed down. From what i've seen maybe longer.. still alot water comin down. Ya didnt want to go thru washes, figured somebody with eyeballs be around. Thanks all been awhile since I been on here. can't wait to make it over! I'll be in silver dodge with a red jeep if anybody in the area.

You should be able to take the hutchins road out of Joe watt and come around into Tamarack.  Does anyone know if Hutchins has had flood problems?

I hope this link works out so you all can see the devastation from the flooding. Knowing the area pretty well, it's hard to imagine this after seeing these pics. It must have been pretty amazing to see in person.

All of the suggestions are viable ways to get in there.  Have had a glorious and quite time on my horse in the area.  A part of me wishes they won't fix the roads.  I Have seen more un-disturbed wild life this year than ever before and a lot less  "ass hats" dumping crap and doing stupid stuff.   Just my opinion!

I agree about keeping it closed.  Even though I have the peaches ridge tag for bull elk this year I am willing to do more work to preserve less preasure on the animals.  The pictures of the flooding are crazy.  Thanks for sharing.
