i'll have a mt bike and game cart, elk sled, topackboards. lot's of game bag's. useaully hunt by my self. i'll try and get a dnr map tomorrow. i do have two extra maps. also i have some very nice custom elk call's i've been making. i have my toeboard's louder but great sound. also have another that is very good. useded them back in 05 for predator's. they are the one's alot of the other callmaker's are using. going to make a couple now out of elkhorn. We will be there Rick and have guys that will help you pack we camp on the riverdale race track.  Will see you at the barbeque and remember don;t go trying to do it all by yourself even if you can you don;t need to over do it. I will give you our cell numbers and you just need to call.

I don't know if the dnr maps would be any better than the tree farm maps? Mountain bike I have, no trailer though.  Probably one on the back and other tied to the bike cross member and walk it out.

crunchy have carried a few bear quarters out on mt bikes. help's big time. i'm happy with the map from the toutle store. cant wait. Rick

The DNR maps will show you what is state land and what is private. That's the advantage of having them. Mostly they do not show Weyerhaeuser road numbers, so for that it's good to have the Weyerhaeuser maps. It's also very helpful to have a GPS so you can always know where you are, and can find your location on a map.

Did a bit of scouting yesterday. Lots of closed gates. Also saw quite a few elk. Stil some snow above the five way. It was my first time in the unit, other than fishin the south fork. I will know it like the back of my hand come September. Going back down on Wednesday or Thursday. Lots to learn!

I celebrated Independence Day in the Toutle unit. Couldn't get my bro to come along so I headed out solo at 4:30 AM and first elk I saw was a dandy bull gleeming in the first warm rays of sunlight. It was so bright out that it was hard to see in the woods. It was still very easy to find elk in the north part of the unit.

Midday I headed south and checked out the 8100 line. Looks like limited access into the 556 from this FS road. Drove up the Rock Creek and got lost for a while until I had to get out and get back north. I wanted to check out the Kalama drainage. I thought it would be easier to access through Woodland.

Yeah I will be on mounain bike too more than likely. Got a custom trailer set up from last year still waiting to haul out its first elk quarters.

Deer Slayer, if you are talking about GREEN Trails maps they do not GT maps for anything west of St Helens. We used to have a Metzgers maps in Tacoma. They are gone. I used to go there and get the 40 ft line quadrangle maps. You know, the real good detailed topo maps.
