Daughter and i were deer hunting on Chewuck, Parachute meadows, and 3 were seen by us, 1 was seen with binoculars as the others split off. I watched the white, with black stripe one walk about 150 yards, away from us. It was a little bigger than my english mastiff, long leggs, HUGE chest!! This would be the freezout pass wolf pac??
No wonder we didnt see any deer, or see anything packed out! Horrable year this year in the area!
Paddle faster!!,,,,I hear banjo's!!!!

As I expected sightings are being made of wolves in additional GMU's now that there are deer, bear, and elk hunters out across the state.

History in Idaho and Montana indicates that we should expect 20% to 30% reproductive growth in the wolf population annually, plus we will likely have additional wolves moving into the state from surrounding states and provinces which all have wolves.

The wolf population could grow faster in Washington than it has grown in any other state.  :yike:

Back to the postings,I believe I saw one on Monday as i was coming down Eckler MT rd. It was out in the wheat stubble about 300yds. stopped & bino'd & it was no coyote. Big malamute? Black with no particular purpose. Just meandering,& sniffing & kept looking at the truck. Tried to stop a passing Pu for conformation but no luck. this was not in the timber & I watched for probley 5 Min's. sorry but my cheap ass camera wont work at that distance & is only carried for kill shots, so you know its empty.
Just out of dayton, GMU 162, 10/17/11.
Binos are old school but very good.
& chipped Wolves? wouldn't that be nice for monotoning?

It was in 1997 so a ways back but it most certainly was a wolf.

We used to hunt archery up headwaters of Yellowjacket creek way south of Randle near the boundary trail. We were scouting in July in one of our favorite high meadows when I saw what looked like a mountain goat at first glance throught the binocs. It was white. Then it turned its head and the long snout confirmed it's a wolf and it started trotting down the hill towards us. No question about it.

When early season came around we found a set of tracks in the general area as well.

That same season we were talking to some other seasoned hunters in the area who when we told them about our findings were suggesting that Wolfhaven in Olympia has been releasing them in various places in the Cascades like they are God or something.

I do not doubt that they do.

Mind your own buisness, and stop wasting space where they can keep a head count on sightings.

That discussion is over. This thread is for wolf sightings, not for wolf debates or any other kind of debate. Take it up in pm's or off the forum.
Thanks

My dad was sitting on a knoll glassing when something caught his naked eye. Across the canyon from him walking into a small treed patch. He brought up the spotting scope and to his amazement it was a grey wolf. He was absolutely sure it was a wolf after we were able to look over the two in Idaho a couple weeks ago. 2 others in our group were up canyon from him and they said they found wolf tracks going down a trail they were walking.
