Asked one of our biologist and head of Fish and Wildlife what would happen to the hybrid since it was a confirmed hybrid. I was told they will be doing some trapping soon to collar the wolves thehy can capture, once they trap the hybrid they will collar it and send DNA back for all the wolves they trap and any they record that are hybrids will be destroyed but they need to confirm whatever is a hybrid, or if there are any more.

Glad to hear that we have a responsible wildlife agency in this state that is doing the right thing.

They said there should be hunting regs for wolves this fall for the books. Sounds like they are leaning towards a quota system, there being 4 districts for the reservation they will give so many tags per district. They havent set a # yet or anything but they are going to give out more then obviously they want harvested because they know each tag holder wont be sucessful. Be interesting to see how it all pans out, I was also told our tribal council agrees we are a subsistance tribe first, meaning to support our members and our own food needs. I usually only go to our office every month or so to pick up my check but will talk to the biologist some more, plus the head of fish & wildlife if any more details come up. Not sure how the hunting on the north half will be regulated by us or how many tags we will be allowed up there since they arent federally regulated and we are still allowed hunting rights up there. I forgot to ask them that yesterday.

I am certainly supporting a tribal wolf hunt on the north half. Hope your director is successful in getting that season.

The tribe will be capturing and collaring wolves sometime in the near future to do our own tracking of when we establish a breeding pair and how many are actually pure wolves and which are hybrids (one known). All wolves/hybrids will be collared and when the DNA evidence comes back on which ones are hybrids they will be disposed of accordingly. This collaring should help with the wolf count and figuring how many we have here as well as how many more the state itself has.

That's the difference of a populace that doesn't whine and cry about consuptive use of animals.  The tribes are good that way- they see animals as a renewable resource that can be used sensibly.  Emotions aside.

Not confirmed yet but here is a picture of one in the Swawilla Basin area on our Reservation not far from where I live. I've notified our Fish & Wildlife and hopefully can get more details from the picture takers.

So that picture was north of Keller about 20-30 miles?

Wasn't their some wolf sighting reported in the Aeneas area, wonder if that could be from the same pack.

Not sure if its wolf or not but this was taken the first full weekend of turkey season on Lookout Mtn out of Cle Elum. From talking to the land owners in there is that there are quite a few wolves in there

Got another wolf report, but it's only 2 tracks in two different areas. Near Malo Washington. One set up Aeneas Crk and the other up St. Peters Crk.
These could be the same wolf, but who knows. They were maybe 3-5 miles apart.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

I saw one fresh track of a large canine up near the top of Aeneos Creek near Malo on 05/06/2012.  I had driven up the road the day before and there was no track.  No other vehicles had driven there so it most likely was not someones dog.  There are no houses within miles.
