I found a few old buck pics I took when I was in this area. These were taken in 2007. I wish I had all my pics from here, but I lost a bunch.

One of the bucks in the pics was going to be a hog.

My daughter shot her first deer in there last year, it was the first buck we saw.  Even though it was the first buck we saw it was worth shooting.  It probably scores around 110 or so, we were very happy with the hunt.  Didn't find any deer in the elk meadows, we had to head up to the higher clear cuts.  Some of the guards will help, some keep to themselves.  It is a fun hunt but it was very short for us, if you have the time after you kill your deer take advantage of the fact that you can still enter the watershed and continue to hunt bear and cougar or just say you are and drive around.  Take a good camera and get us lots of pic's.  She has her deer pic on the youth board, the title "My daughters first deer".

Yeah, cruising timber in there. It's a neat area.

I remember when I was a little kid riding in my dads log truck in there ( I know, I wasn't supposed to). I'd get down on the floor going through the gate.  :chuckle: It was like going to NW trek to a little kid who just started hunting. We would see a lot of deer, big bucks and even more elk. The number of elk, and big bulls in there back then was amazing.

That hunt has tempted me for a few years now, just can't get myself to pass up areas that I already know.  :bash:

Some real hogs in there, dandy bucks in those pictures!

A cool story of when I was in there a couple years ago.

I was driving into work and was on the mainline. I hit the brakes hard and along side the road about 20 yards off the mainline is a huge 3 X 4 blacktail with eyeguards. He was kinda alarmed at how quick I stopped but still let me look at him for 30 seconds or so. I caught movement out of the corner of my eye, and in my rearview mirror I see a deer moving behind my truck. I turned around in my seat and saw one of the biggest bucks I have ever seen, a huge, long tined 4pt with eye guards. He just calmly walked behind my truck and up the hill. Pretty awesome and they were in velvet. It was neat seeing him in my rearview, though.  :chuckle:

I've always put in for the same old late mule deer hunts like most everyone else, but after being in there last year with my daughter and seeing the area a little bit I started putting my 7 points towards a big blackie.  It's not a slam dunk but I think if a guy hunts his butt off he could end up with a dream of a blacktail. I think for the youths it is one of the best hunts, they really need to put more youths hunt options up for them.
