Tripod for swarovski
«

I just bought a new swarovski spotting scope and I need to find a tripod. I don't really want to spent $600 dollars on a tripod. Does anyone have any fairly cheap, but quality tripod suggestions?
Thanks Jordan

Depends on what model. 60 or 80 mm? You've spent the money for the scope, I wouldn't slouch on the tripod.

I'd get a Manfrotto 055XB tripod and Manfrotto 128 fluid head. The pair are around #300 from places like Eagle Optics. Thjis is a very good setup. The Slik Pro 700 DX is a good tripod too. There are certainly others, but I have these and have no further use for anything better, until such time as I need to go lighter. At that point I'd go the Manfrotto carbon fiber version of the 055.

I got the 60, but I got a camera adapter so I need it to be some what strong. If I have to I'll buy the swarovski tripod but I was hoping for something a little cheaper that would work just as well.

If money were no object, I would say an outdoorsman tripod with the fluid head or pistol grip head. Best hunting tripod made IMO. I just bought a Swarovski Tripod II with fluid head for $325, brand new. This is just so I can have my STS 80 and 15's set up at the same time while scouting/guiding.

You're asking for quite a bit when you want something "quality" for "fairly cheap". Its all relative, you spent a lot on your spotting scope, so $600 for a tripod would be fairly cheap.

I also have the Swaro 65mm spotter and I went with the Bogen Carbon Fiber 732CY. It's compact, light, plenty sturdy and it's around $199 (without a head). I put the 700RC2 head on it and love the setup! If you're going to be using your spotter standing a lot, this tripod might not be tall enough for you but for sitting, or if you're shorter, it's perfect.
Never used this tripod with a camera but you can also take a bag, like an empty crown royal bag, and carry that with you. When you get to where you want to set up, fill the bag with rocks and hang it from your tripod. This will help steady up your tripod.

Sounds like a good reason to go through a bottle of Crown
