Not sure who you are refering to... I guess I should have added a /blackmouth to my post since that's all I managed to chase this weekend.

Wish I could have made it, had to cancel my plans anyway seeing as how sick I got :bash: Hope to get out there soon though.

You need to keep your bait within 1ft of the bottom most of the time.  We did fish under the schools of kokees but did not pick and lakers up from under them.  Between 90' and 200' and we were on the bottom at all of those depths.

thanks a lot, not this weekend but next I'm going to try and head over if Deer Lake in Steven Co. isn ice free enough to get the boat onto. Large Kiwi's work I'm assuming, its what I've used for them on Deer Lake.

We chartered a trip a couple of years ago.  Bottom tracking downriggers, 12 lb ball at about 200'.  We got one 14 pounder and a bunch in th 3-6 pound range.

The deeper you go the darker it gets,  we tend to use darker colors but we have caught them on light colored as well.

Well just got back again.  None in the teens this time.  Sat. we took two guys out who at an auction bought a trip that we had donated.  We boated 15 Lakers between 3-10 lbs.  It was a beautiful day and we had no wind.  Today Robby and I went out for a few hours to try some new spots and baits and put two in the boat and we caught and released a 16'' king.  Lots of deer on the way over and back.

Its a lot of work with manual down riggers :bash:!  You got to be on the bottom and at 200 ft. it is a long ways to the top!
