Seattle couple frees coyote's head from jar
« on: July 28, 2011, 02:46:11 PM »

A coyote with the jar stuck on his head has been freed.
The three to four month old pup was spotted in the Rainier Beach neighborhood on Friday with the jar on its head. Animal shelter officers said by then, the jar had been on the animal's head for about a week.

A Seattle couple sprung to action when they spotted the coyote stumble into their yard on Monday and pulled the jar off the young pup's head.

"It was emaciated and I assume, pretty dehydrated. It had been losing weight and appeared in a weakened condition," said Don Baxter, from Seattle Animal Control.

Animal Control says the pup should have a quick recovery and is optimistic for the coyote's future.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

I wonder what type of jar that was?  I don't condone littering usually, but maybe a few strategically placed jars out there could help thin the coyote population...... :dunno:

Sometimes, I do not believe what I read on here. It does not matter wether it is a deer, elk, moose, ram, bird, or even a fricken Coyote. It was an animal suffering a slow death.

Further more it was a pup, 3-4 months old. Hey I got an idea why dont we all go out shoot everything that is young, have no resupply of the species and let every thing die.

Really hope all of you are just talking big behind the computer, because this is a hunting group I don't want to hang around with.

I was totally joking with my comment, and I think everyone else has been joking too.  I would have done the same as the Redmond couple did too since there is likely a no shooting ordinance in the area.

putting it down would end the suffering its not an endagered species and I am not a cruel person hell I have saved birds, shrews, all sorts of critters.  I bottle fed wild baby bunnies whose nest I destroyed with a mower...named them fred and ralph then set them free to become coyote/eagle/hawk food  :chuckle:

I just dont see why rehab a coyote pup to release back into the city. :dunno:  Of course they probably keep the warf rat and feral cats in check so maybe its not all bad  :dunno:

No problem Joe. Won't invite you to go.    ;)

And last I heard, I thought there were plenty of them to go around.

I think what I was trying to say is why is this news? I am always a good steward of the land and treat animals with respect. But news? I think not. And yes, we cannot shoot within city limits.

I do believe you may have over reacted.

Sounds like they need a little more thinning of coyotes.

Little story for ya,
I live in San Diego becuase of the Navy. Got up one morning and went to the 7-11 right down the street. On my way back home I see this dog trying to kill the little dog on a leash that some lady is currently holding onto. Well turns out it was a coyote trying to kill the little dog. I pulled over and got out my pistol, but before i could shoot the coyote ran into a neighbors yard and hid. I called the police and this dumb ass cop shows up. After telling him the whole story he is afraid to walk back where the yote is, so about 5 mins go by and a seargent shows up. He asks where the coyote is and heads back there, Bang!!  one dead coyote. I aksed the seargent if i would of been ok with shooting it while it was atacking the little dog, he said yep, but you sure would of had some explaining to do...
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

The removal of a jar could be tricky.  I would suggest a big hammer.
