Spokane Modern Rifle Deer and Elk Areas?????
« on: August 04, 2011, 02:41:22 PM »
Hello game lovers,

I am new to hunting in the state of Washington and I live in Spokane. I plan on going over into the Cusick area to hunt a little but was wondering if anyone knew if the white tail and elk in the Spokane area is worth it or not. I know I will have to go out a ways to find some good Elk hunting but I am sure there are some people on here who might not mind giving me some ideas on where to start scouting. If you could help I would be very grateful....Thank you.

Mica peak would be a good place to start if you don't mind hiking...

Thank you. I think I will have to go and check it out. Any idea if this is a good area for bear and cougar? Sorry for asking a lot of questions.

Thank you very much for the information Alwinearcher. I hope to get up there sometime soon so I can get a good look at the land and see if I come across some tracks.

All the Elk are in the Blues...not a bad drive.  Check out the Dayton area.

Yeah for accessible ground right around Spokane, Mica Peak is good, and with Inland Paper closing the access, it's only gonna get better for those who will do the hike.  Used to be opening day there would be 40 rigs parked at the tower road all with 3 or 4 place ATV trailers and all you would hear all day is people riding the roads.  nothing against ATV's, I use them myself, but with that closed, the hunting is gonna get real good up there.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

Sorry Woodchuck. Actually the Mt Rainier herd should be a guys first choice tied with the Naches or Manastash area.
