Nice buck, nice story, and tough looking country.  Thanks for the story.

Nice looking buck Doug... what a hunt.. and I know that was just the "beginning" of the work... wow...14+ miles is a big one... there are really very few places where you can even go 14 miles without hitting a road!!! Nice.

Now, bring that big camera/lens to Montana and lets find a fricken huge bull moose...

I haven't even stretched a tape yet other than his width....26 inches.   I'm guessing 160ish.   He broke o ff one small cheater.  You'll note in the one beam its a bit swollen.  Probably some damage in velvet.   Has a small hole like a stick got it, and a cheater came out of that as well.  He broke it off in the fall.

sounds good Ernie.  Looking forward to it.

Yeah, it was a bit much. I own stock in Ibuprophen, Tylenol, and Aleve.    I've been packing for a couple days.  This heat was nasty.   Been awhile since I've seen that much heat in the high country.

What a great story.  You define the words sportsman and fair chase.  A high bar for most of us "mortals" to strive for-
