what a bummer we forgot to call the hot line, got out there, and couldn't hunt..  looks like I'll be salmon fishing and bird hunting till late season. Ha-ha I'm just glad i have so many hobbies i can find something else to chase in the woods. we went fishing that evening and grouse hunting on sunday. got our limits and found a few chantrelles.. :( was really looking forward to hunting the elk spots I'd scouted out all of august...

i did the same thing...i passed a weyco worker on sat as i was goin into the woods he passed me doin about 40mph..didnt stop to tell me he was closin everything...came back sunday morning to see red dots andd big orange fire closure signs...had to turn around and drive another hour to state land to wander around and hope to run into some elk on unfamiliar lands....the thing that pissed me off is i spent all day sat trackin a herd in 85 degree weather and knew where they were going to be sunday and show up that morning to closures... :bash: :bash: :bash:
