Damned moon!!!!
« on: September 13, 2011, 07:37:44 AM »
Full moon has the blacktail in my area COMPLETELY nocturnal.  Fawns, does, bucks, yearlings, everything!!!  :bash:  Been out the past 3 evenings and a morning.  There is NO movement at all.  Man this sucks

I don't think it's the moon. It's the heat in my opinion. My area that I've had trail cameras in since March, has been vacated by the deer in just the last two weeks. Checked two of my cameras on Sunday and only had a picture of one deer at each location, and that was in a 2 week period. Normally I'd have several deer coming by each day. So at least in my area, it's not that they went nocturnal, they're just not there.

It was definately the heat. I spent the last week chasing elk in the Rimrock unit.  They were milling around but it was back in the super thick stuff.

I agree it's the heat more than the Moon.  I know of a few elk killed in North Idaho, either been real late or real early once it cools down slightly.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

It's the heat.  It is cooling off this week and with increased cloud cover and cooler temps they will be back on the move.

i had the same problem coyote hunting this sunday, i couldnt even get one to howl back at like 10 at night, we seen one coyote first thing in the morning and that was it and the mule deer i called in ran into and turn around and run right into the coyote, i think moon phases have alot to do with animal movement, i dont care what anyone says
