core lockt ultra?

anyone use the core lockt ultra'? kill any critters with it? if so, how far away, entry and exit?, hold together?  it was the cheapest 338 ammo i could find, and have had interest in this bullet.

i was gonna ask the same thing yesterday...

my family has always used the non ultra version with good results.

The Remington Core-Lokt Ultra is similar to the standard Core-Lokt except that the jacket is bonded to the core by some sort of proprietary process.  It is similar to the Federal Fusion.  The bonding helps to keep the jacket and the core from separating.   Bonded bullets have heaver jackets and they are generally not as accurate as standard, thinner jacketed bullets. 

I haven’t shot anything other than paper with the Core-Lokt Ultra but they were just as accurate is the standard Core-Lokt through my .30-06 at about 2700 ft/sec.

I would think these would be pretty decent in a .338.  From what I hear most of the premium bonded bullets are now very accurate.

yeah, ive always been a fail safe guy, or interlock. just thought i would give these a try. dang supplies of fail safes are dwindling fast, and i aim to hang tight to em for awhile.

yeah, you gotta! whats not to love? flat base, steel insert, tough as nails. they have a rep of being not as accurate as other bullets, but its a hunting bullet, not a target bullet.

I shoot core lokt ultras in both my 270 and 300 win mag and love em.  They shoot great and hold together good when i was able to recover them. Perfect mushroom.

I have used them in my .270win, a .243 and a .338 and they worked.

The .243 at 70 yrds, deer, entry was pinky size, exit about thumb size

.338 deer at 10 yrds, shoulder shot blew the esophagus  and stomach matter (chewed grass) out the opposite shoulder. Could have put my fist in the exit
