anyone hunt 504, Stella?
« on: September 28, 2011, 03:38:04 PM »
I'm looking to see if its worth driving down there to scout and see if its possibly worth hunting this year. I just wanna know if it has a lot of elk, or if anyone has taken an animal in there.
No need to tell me where in there, just if you've seen much or shot anything.
Much appreciated!

Tons of private land and it is all firearm restricted.  There are elk there, just like the surrounding areas.  I wouldn't say there are more elk there than any of the other SW Wa units.

where in the regs does it say its firearm restricted, i looked on page 72 and it doesn't say anything about it. or are there just signs around the area that say it. and are the land owners cool about letting people hunt their land?

Page 73 has the firearm restriction.  I doubt getting permission is much easier than anywhere else, especially since a large portion of the unit is fairly well populated.  Plenty of elk in Longview (as in, in the city).  I see them at my inlaws pretty regularly.

Look under "Cowlitz County" on page 73. GMU 504 is listed there (as WSU also said).
