It seems Dale has been spending more of his precious personal time with this.  I've been trying to apply pressure as well.  Here is the email I got just now...

Quote
Dale talked with our assistant director yesterday. I think we're a day away. I'm very sorry for the delay.

We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

Rules have been modified to meet WDFW requirements and concerns.... PLEASE READ

Coyote Contest Rules:
1.  30 teams max
2.  10 Members max per team
3.  Washington Coyotes Only Coyotes must have been taken during the 2011 Fall and early 2012 Winter hunting season. NO ROADKILL
4.  Entries Accepted Submit photos beginning 12:01 am Dec 10, 2011 to Midnight Feb 28, 2012.
5.  Eligible Hunting Area includes any area statewide open for coyote hunting
6.  State Hunting Licenses & Regulations Apply (hunting at night, weapons restrictions, area restrictions, see hunting regulations)
7.  Licensed Guests/Kids may accompany team members and hunt as follows.  A guest hunter can be a newbie or a relative from out of town.  If a guest kills an animal while hunting with a team member then it can count toward your team total as long as someone from the team was there.  A guest hunter can't go out by themself and shoot coyotes for any team. A guest hunter's coyotes can only count toward your total for one hunt. If your guest hunts with you more than once, they must become a team member for their coyotes to be entered. Kids (under 18) can accompany team members and contribute to the teams total as often as desired as long as they are with a team member.
8.  Honor system applies
9.  Photo of kill with at least one team member must to be submitted for points to be awarded. (or a card with team name shown in photo) Photos should be in as good of taste as possible, with the nastiest side of the coyote towards the ground. Any photo judged to be of poorer taste than necessary will be disqualified.
10.  Adding A Team Member This is allowed after the start of the contest, but any coyotes shot prior to hunting with your team do not count.
11.  No hand gestures needed for photos.
12.  This is a "fun" event.  No money or big prizes involved, so I would hope our members keep it on the up and up.
13.  Don't drag frozen coyotes around to different locations and take pictures.
14.  Highest Scoring Team will be based on the point system shown below.
15.  Member Taking Most Coyotes For this winner each coyote taken during contst scores only 1 point, regardless of location or weapon.
16.  Member Scoring Most Points Will be based on the point system shown below.
17.  Most Coyotes Taken In A 12 Hour Period Take one photo of coyotess (both ears of an animal are acceptable in lieu of a pelt or in the round).
18.  Heaviest Coyote You will need to show a clearly visible picture of the scale weight.
19.  Best Photo To be decided by member poll at the end of the contest.
20.  Best Sportsmanship Judges will choose the participant who exhibits the most sportsmanlike conduct, no kills are necessary.

A good question has been asked:

Quote
Dale, do coyotes in other States count in the Madness or is it ONLY Wa. State dogs?

Some guys have the privilege to hunt Montana and Idaho for a good number of dogs, but the rest of us here are stuck in Wa.  Those of us on the Eastside have it pretty good but I personally believe that is an unfair advantage to those living on the Westside of the State.

Do you guys want out of state coyotes to still be eligible? I can ask WDFW if we can allow it, if you want it that way. Not sure they can permit us that way, but I can ask if desired. What do you all think?

Not anymore, my wife hates it when I shoot from the porch, now I have to at least go out behind the shop. I told her, all I need is a suppressor and she will never be awakened up to the boom again at 5am.  :dunno:  :chuckle:  :chuckle:

No out of state coyotes, means no screwing with WDFW again.  Lets go Hunting-Washington.  Thanks again Dale for all your time and effort.  It's time to Ventilate some dogs.

why didnt we think of that before! then all the coyotes we shot would have been "out of state" coyotes :) next year you just need to name it like "somewhere other than washington coyote  madness" lol

hey no problem guys....

I have already provided the revised rules to WDFW and asked them if out-of-state coyotes pose any problems with the contest.
Remember, you can start posting your pictures after midnight tonight....

I'm gonna have to dig out the old .220, she has a little dust on her, but she still shoots 5/8 groups, now if I can just find a yote....  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
