looking for a hard wood for call making

a buddy of mine has started making some goose calls for *censored*s and giggles and they are turning out better th we had thought.  here are a few pics but what we were hopeing for is some of the guys on here that make game calls could share what kinds of wood you use and maybe were we could get some... we were thinking somthing along the lines of myrtle or hedge wood. any ways here is what he has so far. the wood you see  i think he said was ash

I would think Cocobolo would be pretty good because of its durability in weather.

You might have him stop in the local custom cabinet or millwork shops.  They will usually have various hardwood shorts that he may be able to use.  I know a guy up here that gets all he can use from a local millwork guy basically for free. (trade)
